An applicant tracking system. Before a recruiter opens your CV, the ATS extracts its text to sort it and make it searchable. Most CV tools impose very plain layouts to get through this step, which is why so many applications end up looking alike.

Yes. Every CV is checked before you download it: we extract the raw text, as an ATS would, and check that everything is there, in the right order. Our layouts stay in a single column, the structure that ATS software, old and new, reads most reliably.

No. leading^.cv doesn’t rewrite, summarise or add anything. Your experience, dates and wording stay exactly as you wrote them. Only the presentation changes: typography, hierarchy, spacing and colours. You can edit any text yourself before you download.

A PDF or a Word file gives the best result: both carry real text, with its structure. leading^.cv finds your sections (personal details, experience, education, skills) and places them in the layout you choose. An image works too, as does a PDF with no text, which happens with CVs exported from design tools: their pages are then read as images, without you having to do anything. Reading takes a little longer, and you’ll need to check the result more carefully.

It’s optional, and most CVs in the UK and Ireland don’t include one. A photo on your original CV isn’t carried over when you upload it: if you want one, you add it after choosing your layout. Each layout sets its shape and position, so it belongs to the design of the page rather than sitting on top of it.

Yes. Every CV you create is saved in your account, with the layout used and the date. You can download it again at any time without paying again, or use it as the starting point for another application.

Yes, at any time, from your account, in two clicks and with no reason needed. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period: you keep access until then, and the PDFs you’ve already created and any layouts you bought individually remain yours afterwards. Free layouts stay free.
